Star of Bethlehem Ornament

Star of Bethlehem Ornament

The Star of Bethlehem was the light in the sky that led the shepherds and the wise men to find Baby Jesus after his birth.  This is an easy to make ornament to place on your tree to remind you to look for Baby Jesus.  If you got a kit from the church, you should have the materials to make one ornament for your tree and another to give away.

To make this ornament you will need:

  • 4 Regular size clothes pins
  • 4 Small sized clothes pins
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks (remember to use this with your parents)
  • Banner scripture
  • Paint, markers, rhinestones, or anything else you want to use to decorate your star

Step 1:

  • Take the spring off of all the clothes pins (this has been done if you got a kit from the church)
  • Glue the flat sides of the clothes pins so they look like the picture.  Do this on the big and small.
  • Place the 4 regular pieces and place them so the rounded ends meet in the center.  Glue them together (see the picture).  Do the same for the smaller clips.

Step 2:

  • Glue the small pins on top of the regular size so they make the star as shown.

Step 3:

  • Decorate your star with rhinestones or anyway you would like.

Step 4:

  • Turn your star over.
  • Take a piece of twine and fold it in half.
  • Tie a knot at one end.
  • Glue the string so the knot fits into the hole in the back of the star.  This will help it lay a little flatter.

Step 5: – Scripture Banner

  • Trim the scripture banner so it looks nice.
  • Color it if you like. (If you don’t have a banner, choose a short Bible scripture you.  Make a small banner like shown in the picture.)
  • Gently curl the banner across a pencil to give it the wave look.
  • Glue the banner across the center of the star (see the picture at the top).
